ST. PAUL, Minn.—January 12, 2012—OceanGrafix, the first and only company to offer NOAA print-on-demand (POD) nautical charts, announced today the availability of specialized training charts that, until now, were only produced by NOAA. These charts, special standardized versions of select NOAA charts, are used for instructional purposes by organizations such as the United States Power Squadrons, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and numerous sailing and boating organizations.
Also available is the newest edition of U.S. Chart No.1, Nautical Chart Symbols, Abbreviations and Terms. This is an essential aid and a useful reference for all mariners as it lists and defines all of the symbols used on charts manufactured in the United States. The latest version of Chart No. 1, Edition 11 of 2011, contains updates of the descriptions and depictions of the basic nautical chart elements and symbols used on nautical charts produced by NOAA and NGA.
“We are pleased to have the training charts within our suite of navigational charts,” says OceanGrafix President Ron Walz. “Boating safety is of utmost importance, and we support any and all training boaters can do to ensure their safety on the water.”
